Like Drama?

Why is it we sometimes find ourselves at the center of drama? Do we get a feeling of gratification? Do we create it, or does drama find itself at our doorstep, and we are just there to watch the show? While we can't always avoid unexpected situations, we could be mindful and disassociate ourselves from those known to create drama. Yes, I know it isn't easy, especially with a family member, but when will we find peace? We aren't responsible for anyone's journey but our own. Families can be full of drama, and sometimes we can't help but get sucked in, especially if it's a family member we are close to. Distancing ourselves doesn't mean we don't love our family or friends. However, we can't work on our needs if we are involved in theirs. I love my family, but as a recovering alcoholic, I need to make myself a priority. I spent my life chasing distractions so I didn't have to face my struggles, which is my truth. It's even more complicated when it's your children. I love my son, but he's an adult with two children and has his own share of drama. I'm there for him if he needs me, but I must also be mindful of my boundaries. It can be challenging for some to understand the necessity to step back, but everyone needs to learn their own lessons. It might sound selfish, but it truly isn't when it affects the inner peace we try hard to attain after years of suffering in silence. If we have health conditions, we must also be mindful of what we allow in our lives.

"Why can't we seem to stay away from drama?"

Unfortunately, some people enjoy drama. These people are so used to it in their life and have adapted to the insanity it brings and continue to seek ways to find more (subconsciously). Drama can be addicting when those attracted to it use it to avoid dealing with their struggles; they become drawn into the absurdity. I should know. I also know people who love drama and don't know what themselves without it. I was a creator of drama, and I lived for the rush I got from it when that was better than looking at my pain, which is the same reason people spend their day gossiping about others. There is always a reason behind the allure. If we want to live a healthy and productive life, we need to search deep within ourselves to see why we are so fascinated by the drama in our lives. Why do we like to talk badly about people, or why do we relish in someone else's failures? Are you happy in your own life?

Are surrounded by these characters? Why do you think that is? While you might not be the main character, you might find yourself playing a role. I believe that people want to live peaceful and happy lives. If we cannot stand still and need the constant rush from the chaos, then we should take a moment and ask ourselves why. If a person is dissatisfied with their life, they will likely try something new to release this feeling. If we're single, we might try dating under the false illusions we need someone else to add value to our life. It is important to remember that if we have unresolved issues within ourselves, we might not be able to give a new partner what they need. We might end up hurting ourselves and others in the process. I reference this from my own experience. While there is nothing wrong with wanting to find a partner, we must ask ourselves the need behind this to reveal our truth. We often fool ourselves when we think a person, place, or thing can make us feel complete. If we don't work on the cause of our dissatisfaction, we won't feel fulfilled. Happiness comes from within; no matter where we go, who we are with, or how physically wealthy we are, it will be hard to find when we continually look outside ourselves to find happiness.

If we ever feel envious of another's success, there is always a reason at the core. In reality, the success of others will be a reminder of our failures when we are still living in a hurt state of mind. If we dislike someone without reason, they might remind us of the things we don't like about ourselves (projection). These unfortunate souls become our punching bags we latch onto and speak badly about or find blame when we are in pain. Remember, we are responsible for the drama in our lives; we must be strong enough to take control by letting go and walking away from the things that only create more hurt in our lives. The good news is that we still have time to make a change. We don't have to be stuck in the old life we created where there is dysfunction and pain. We can create a better life where we are happy, healthy, and successful. All we have to do is take the first step, but it can be hard when we get used to the hurt we've carried on our shoulders for so long. Change must come from within, and our willingness to take it one day at a time will make us successful. The choice has always been ours to make. We can't change what's happening around us until we change what's happening within us. It is time to be brave.
